Early life and education
Street was born in Palo Alto, California,[2] the daughter of Emerson Street, a journalist and labor organizer,[3] and Mildred Ruth Sutherland Street, a journalist.[4] She graduated from Cubberley High School in ; she attended but did not graduate from San Francisco State College.[5]
